Medical Bills? We can Help - Monthly Medical Debt Clinic

This is a monthly medical debt relief clinic that meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Registration is preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. We will reach out to you to schedule your appointment. Are you, or someone you know, having a problem with medical debt? Heal the Debt can help you find ways of reducing or eliminating your medical debt. Learn about how you can apply for financial assistance through the hospital or through DollarFor , a national nonprofit that helps patients crush medical bills. Come talk to a volunteer in-person at the library who will review your situation . You will need to bring your hospital bill (paper bills or MyChart account) and proof of income (pay stub, tax return, or we can help you if you don't have these). Every New York hospital has a financial assistance program, and you’ll be surprised to know that you might qualify if you make $62,600 or less as an individual or if your household of four earns $128,600 or less a year . Some hospitals are more generous and you may qualify with a higher income. These programs help both patients with and without insurance, regardless of immigration status. Appointments will be up to one hour. Additional language help may be available if you ask in advance on your registration. To schedule a phone consultation with a Heal the Debt volunteer, email healthedebt@gmail.com or call 917-740-6052. Upcoming Clinic Dates: December 16
