💫 Let’s Learn about Diwali. The name Diwali comes from a Sanskrit word that means “row of lights.” The holiday is often called the Festival of Lights. The festivities last for five days. The fourth day marks the start of the new year on the Hindu calendar. Diwali falls in late October or early November. Ms. Geshu is inviting you to get ready to celebrate Divali at our Leonard Library and in our neighborhood. Ms. Geshu Sugandh is our local children’s book author My Heart Would Like Some More, Please! ये दिल माँगे और, and creator of BrooklynBiharn, a bilingual storytelling studio in English and Hindi. Let's bring Indian culture closer to us, hear stories, sing songs, and make something fun together. We begin with a short, interactive presentation about Diwali, then create colorful Rangoli designs and Diyas- "oil lamps" and place them around the house. For children 3-12 years old with and without disabilities. Group size limited to 12. A parent or caregiver must accompany. Please check Library display with books about Diwali, Indian culture and Hindi language and discover something new!
