Recurring series
Join us for the screening of two documentaries, "Invisible Visible 未见之见" and "Silenced Sunrise: Taiwan’s Music vs. The China Factor", for a look at how censorship shapes what people can see, hear, and say. Joyce Yu-Jean Lee’s film follows her ten-year FIREWALL Café project , which uses interactive art to confront internet restrictions. Chen-Yu Lin’s film examines how China’s political influence reaches Taiwan’s music scene. Paired together, they ask who controls access to information, how popular culture becomes contested ground, and how artists respond when their work crosses borders and digital platforms. A conversation with the filmmakers about freedom of expression and the stories communities tell about themselves will follow the screening.
