Volunteer Workday: Krystal Community Garden

Join Krystal Community Garden and NYC Parks GreenThumb for a volunteer day helping install a new garden pathway! This community garden is cared for by volunteers who are excited to meet you and share their rich history of environmental stewardship, urban gardening, and hosting community events. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to join a growing garden! Signup here! About the Project: Installing garden pathways involves weeding, leveling soil, painting and setting bricks, and spreading sand. It's a great opportunity to learn about garden design and accessibility! We'll provide all the tools, training, and guidance to ensure a productive and safe volunteer day. Please wear sturdy work shoes and weather-appropriate clothing and bring water and snacks. Note some tasks will involve lifting heavy materials and extended periods of bending, squatting, and moving. Rain Date: Saturday, November 14, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. For information about group volunteering, please contact the GreenThumb Volunteer Program at gt.volunteer@parks.nyc.gov This event is co-hosted by NYC Parks GreenThumb. We are proud to be the nation’s largest urban community gardening program, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. GreenThumb community gardens are organized, led, and cared for by dedicated volunteer gardeners who critically upkeep them as public green spaces. With GreenThumb’s support, community gardens are centers of environmental justice, ensuring that our city is fairer, safer, and greener for all. GreenThumb’s events are free and open to the public.
